First attempts of glazing creation were made in the nineteenth century, however they did not manage to gain popularity soon. Currently the situation is quite different, it became obvious that double-glazed windows have a number of advantages in comparison with conventional window unit. They have a much smaller thickness but provide a high level of protection against noise and better energy saving properties. Double-glazed windows are easy to operate and their installation is not more difficult than usual. If the glazing is damaged, the replacement will not cause any problem.

Glazing consists of several glass sheets connected by a sealed frame with a desiccant. Windows are classified by the number and type of glasses. In the composition of the single-chamber window there are two glasses, two-chamber -3 glasses, and three-chambered glazing has 4 glasses. The number of glasses can be further increased, however this will seriously affect the light transmission properties of window. Double-chambered glazing in most cases will be ideal variant. It has properties of strength, transparency, poor thermal conductivity, high level of sound proofing.

Glasses in the composition of glazing are usually joined using a special adhesive. However, other technologies such as welding glass may be used. For the evaporation not penetrate inside the glazing the internal sealant based on butyl is used. An external sealer is responsible for ensuring that wet did not get inside and the glass is firmly fixed in the frame. The desiccant in the design of glazing needs to absorb moisture and provide no condensation.
